Lent is a season of forty days not counting Sundays, which begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on the Saturday before Easter Sunday. The forty days represents the time Jesus spent in the wilderness, enduring the temptation of Satan and preparing to begin his ministry.

Sundays in Lent are not counted in the forty days because each Sunday remains a Sabbath feast day when we, so to speak “break the fast.”

Here are some ideas to try for the Lenten Season

(Just pick one or two, not all. Lent is a time of simplicity!)

Systematic Prayer is one of the essential elements to spirituality. Follow the Morning Prayers booklet that Rob produced to rekindle a love of scripture and prayer

Take the 40acts challenge
40 days, 40 reflections, 40 challenges to make a difference. Sign up online at www.40acts.org.uk
You will receive an email straight to your inbox each day (not including Sundays). Each act is to sharpen your awarness and give practical ways to stretch your faith as well as your generosity.

Take the Carbon Fast Challenge
This year the special focus is water. Water is a gift. Water is life. As water crises increase, access to safe and clean drinking water decreases. Find out more details on each day’s action, daily scripture and prayer at www.greenanglicans.org or on facebook/GreenAnglican #justwater2017

A series on different types of Prayers
Sign up on facebook -  facebook.com/arthuratkingofhearts with Arthur Stewart for a series on different types of prayer. On Ash Wednesday (1 March) and then on each Monday of Lent, Arthur will email out a brief description of a prayer practice to do during the week. This will be something you can do on your own, with your family, or even a small group.

Join the Hearts on Fire Ignation Spirituality course on Tuesdays during Lent, 10am or 7.30pm at Christ Church.
