Caring for Creation

Welcome to the Creation Care pages maintained by the Christ Church Kenilworth chapter of A Rocha South Africa!

CreationCareWeekend

“The earth is the Lord’s and all that is in it” (Ps 24:1)

Creation stewardship is not a fringe option that distracts us from loving God or caring for people - it is integral. This is what we are learning.

Friends of Kenilworth Racecourse

We identified the Kenilworth Racecourse Conservation Area as the conservation project we want to encourage Christ Church members to get involved in. This is because it is such an important project for preserving biodiversity and it is right on the Christ Church doorstep. The “Friends of Kenilworth Racecourse Area group“ holds regular outings where, for example,  friends help clear alien vegetation encroachments or harvest seeds for propagation.

If you feel that you would like to get involved and want to join the Friends group or if you would like to know more about the Friends of KRCA join their email group by sending an elmail to: fkrca-subscribe@yahoogroups.com.

The Rosebank Methodist A Rocha Community Group hosted a Churches Creation Care Conference attended by about 70 people from more than three city denomincations, on 1 August. The programme included a youth drama and focused on Cape Town’s conservation opportunities. A Rocha Friend, Dalton Gibbs, of the Rondevlei Nature Reserve was the keynote speaker who presented the extent of transformation in Cape Town’s fynbos types. The conference tabled resolutions by participants from more than five city congregations for church projects in conservation and climate change. As a result of the conference there are possibilities for at least two new A Rocha Community Groups forming around some of the city’s (and our planet’s) most biodiverse and most threatened landscapes.

Cape Town has its very own Green Map!
