Connect groups are an important part of community life at Christ Church. They are gatherings of 25–35 people who meet fortnightly for food and fellowship, teaching, worship, prayer and bags of fun! Groups are run by members of the church and often meet in the home of one of the members.

Joining a connect group provides an ideal place in which to grow as a disciple of Jesus and become involved in every aspect of church life. Connect groups serve three main purposes:

1.A place to experience community – Connect is an easy way to join the church and a place where dynamic, loving and caring friendships facilitate discipleship & outreach.
2. A place to grow in relationship with God – groups gather together to worship, hear teaching, engage in discussion and pray.
3. A place from which to serve the world – our vision is to grow maturing disciples who will play a part in the transformation of our society. Jesus chose to grow his followers by empowering them to personally live out this vision themselves. We aim to look beyond ourselves, to get involved in outreach and social action together.

What people are saying about Connect

“The thing I’ve learnt most about God in Connect is patience… and an unbelievable family, homely, cosy, friendly atmosphere has for the first time really shown me what God means when he says Christian fellowship, brotherhood and sisterhood in Christ.”
Daniel (15)

“It feels great to be part of a group that is welcoming, family-based and non-judgemental. Through this group I have learnt more about how God wants to be in relationship with us.”
Jo (father)

“At connect group I have learnt that God really answers prayer!”
Chloe (10)

“Me and my daughter live one road away from the Connect Group. In the last eight years we did not attend church regularly because it felt like another chore and being a single parent it emphasised my aloneness. Then my friend suggested we join the group. Since then we have joined the church and Sunday school.”
Alison (mum)

“I see people being accepted for who they are.”

How to find a Connect Group

We’ve made it easy for you to find a group through the online Connect Group Finder. You can also get a full list of our Groups from the Connect Group brochure in the foyer after church. Before you look for a group, it’s worth noting the following:

1. Keep an open mind. Don’t get discouraged if you don’t find the group you are looking for first time. You don’t have to join the first group you attend. In fact we recommend that you visit different groups before choosing one to stay in.
2. Get advice from one of the ministers or staff team. They know all the Connect Group leaders well and can easily recommend a group that may suit you.
3. Call up the Connect Group leaders and find out what there group is like.
4. We are here to help connect you with the right people. Please don’t hesitate to call 021 797 6332 and speak to Jeremy or a member of staff if you have any questions.
