Serving the church in its mission to make disciples of young people in South Africa

 Youth Needs Poll

What is the most pressing need young people have today?

There is a crisis of Christian discipleship and spiritual formation among teenagers in Cape Town and South Africa. Many churches don't know how to respond. They have an inadequate grasp of how to engage with young people in our changing culture and are inadequately resourced for their role of forming maturing disciples in a changing society.

The vision for the Youth Hub is to provide resources, support and training to local churches to equip them to better serve their communities. Three key areas we've identified are: 1) Discipleship and Spiritual formation 2) Kingdom engagement 3) Leadership development

Current Projects:

Discipleship and Spiritual Formation Material

We are working on number of resources that should be available for 'roadtesting' in the next few months. Click on the links to download samples.

Seeing the Kingdom: A series of personal and group studies from the Gospel of Mark.

These have been written to help us catch the vision for God's Kingdom as Jesus reveals it in Mark. The readings are based on Jesus-stories that challenge and invite us to think freshly about what it practically means to live a Kingdom-shaped life. Six sessions available for download on our projects page.

The Good Life:

What does it mean to be good? Why is that so hard? How can we make wise decisions about tough issues the Bible is silent on? Where does the power to live a life that pleases God come from? We'll be exploring these issues and more in a series of blog posts over the course of this year. Find it here

The justAsking Blog:

Young people have some good questions about faith and life. This blog is an attempt to provide answers that make sense of the world we live in and God's vision for our lives. Find it here

A Discipleship Curriculum:

What do we want young people who are part of a 5-year youth ministry to have on board with them when they leave high-school? What is it going to take to form a deep spirituality in our young people so that they continue growing as disciples after school? This series of small group sessions will be designed to help grow our young people as disciples in a broad and balanced way. 5-key areas that provide the framework for what we'll be teaching are: 1) Knowing God 2) Knowing About God 3) Living as part of the Body of Christ 4) Living a Kingdom life 5) Engaging with the Bible

Church Youth Consultations

We are meeting regularly with a small group of youth workers who are starting new youth ministries in their local churches. The aim is to provide them with support in the form of resource materials and a forum in which to share ideas and explore new strategies.
