Men's Dinners
'My World of Politics and Faith'
Mmusi Maimane, National Spokesperson for the DA, Deputy Federal Chair and official leader of the DA in Johannesburg, is the guest speaker at the next Men’s Dinner on Monday 10 June 2013.
Mmusi is one of the outstanding young leaders at the helm of the DA’s resurgent growth, particularly in the Gauteng Region.
Mmusi at 33 is a relative youngster in a world traditionally dominated by older political heavyweights, but his eloquence and ability to communicate with a range of audiences, together with his integrity, values and clear commitment as a follower of Jesus Christ make it almost inevitable that he will in time become a key leader in our national political arena. Mmusi holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, a Master’s degree in Theology from a top European university and a Masters in Public and Development Management from Wits.
This event is an opportunity to meet one of SA’s promising and rising political leaders and to be inspired by his story of faith in Jesus Christ. Mmusi will tell the story of his life, give us a window into his world and talk about the impact of his faith-walk with Jesus Christ on his growing political career. Mmusi is married to Natalie and they live in Gauteng with their young daughter – and a little boy expected in October.
There will be an opportunity for questions, as well as discussion around the tables and a chance to share each others’ stories and pray together.
The cost of the two-course dinner is R60, and pre-booking is essential.

Opportunities for Action / Reflection during 2013 - Weekend events planned
There are three weekend events for men scheduled for this year. These will be advertised at the dinner, but it is not too early to put your name down, as space is limited for all three weekends.
Mountain Biking Weekend (Fri 4 – Sun 6 Oct). John Ronaldson is the organizer in chief of this event, a repeat of last year’s weekend in the Elgin Valley. This year we shall visit the four conveniently situated Lebanon Forest MTB trails which include sections of beautiful Overberg fynbos. The cost of the weekend is R400 for accommodation in shared self catering cottages plus R20 per day for permits. Catering arrangements and cost to be confirmed.
Otter’s Creek Quiet Weekend (Fri 4 – Sun 6 Oct). Brian Richardson and Charlie Miller will lead this weekend for a small group of men who are looking for a quiet weekend of guided reflection in tranquil and beautiful surroundings. The cost of this weekend is R350 all inclusive.
Cedarberg Hiking Weekend (Thursday 31 Oct – Sun 3 Nov). Rafe Axelson and his team have organized another outdoors weekend, this time at Driehoek. You will need to take Thursday afternoon and Friday off. Bring your own tent (or share) as well as your own food: a real camping experience. Possible hikes include Welbedacht and Panorama caves, Tafelberg, Sneeuberg hut and of course the Arch – with pools en route for a refreshing dip: different walks for different strengths. If you have a Wild Card, that will save you R150 for permits to enter the conservation areas.
